FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness will release the online version of its Emergency Medical Response Awareness course sometime this month.

Originally designed for nursing students and conducted in-person, an online version of the course was created earlier this year and offered to more than 1,300 students at five colleges and universities.

By making the 8-hour course available to a wider audience, any medical professional with a need to gain or reinforce medical response techniques for use following chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) incidents can take the training.

EMRA teaches course participants to identify signs and symptoms of CBRNE casualties as well as protective actions and treatment protocols for use in both non-clinical and hospital settings.
