The Center for Domestic Preparedness passed its annual Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) inspection April 23 with a rating of ‘substantial compliance.’
The annual CLIA inspection provides an independent and in-depth evaluation of the CDP’s Blood Lab, from how it handles and tests blood samples to how it maintains records. It ensures the facility is functioning in accordance with the latest federal guidelines for safe, accurate lab operations.
The CLIA inspection also improves overall operations of the lab, as the inspector routinely shares ‘best practices’ from other reviews he or she has conducted.
The inspection was conducted by the Alabama Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Health Provider Standards and showed ‘all CLIA condition-level requirements were met’ during the onsite survey.
Federal directives require onsite surveys to determine a laboratory’s compliance with applicable regulations. Compliance with these regulations is a condition of certification by the CLIA program.
