k, the Center for Domestic Preparedness is piloting a partnership with DisasterReady.org in the center’s Barrier Precautions and Controls for Highly Infectious Disease Course (HID).
In addition to the course instruction and exercises provided by CDP instructional staff, students will complete two DisasterReady courses during the week – Working in an Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) and COVID-19 Training for Health Workers: Preparedness and Response.
Partnering with DisasterReady is expected to supplement and enhance the information provided to the students by the CDP.
“This suite of training will be challenging and encouraging for each participant, with the goal of developing the knowledge and skills needed for them to be most effective in a hospital setting as well as working in an austere field environment,” according to the center’s training and education department.
The CDP began its collaboration with DisasterReady.org in early 2020, disseminating information about the activity to students taking virtual training and allowing DisasterReady to host information from the CDP on its site, beginning with the training videos ‘COVID-19 Training for Health Workers: Preparedness and Response’ and ‘Managing the Message: Communication and Media Management in a Security Crisis.’
