FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness announced this week that the updated version of its Field Force Command: Executive Course will be ready

for delivery in early fall.

Additionally, it said the new version of the eight-hour offering will be available for both virtual and non-resident delivery. It previously was offered as a non-resident course only.

The updated course will include discussions about the legal perspectives of field force activities, in addition to crowd dynamics, demonstrator tactics and force multipliers.

The legal perspectives portion will enhance executives’ understanding of federal law as it relates to safeguarding demonstrations, protests and similar constitutionally protected activities.

Understanding protestor psychology will be a key element of the crowd dynamics topic, which will explore the types of protestors responders may encounter, their motives, and crowd behaviors.

In the demonstrator tactics segment, executives will learn about tactics, including countermeasures, used by protestors.

The force multiplier topic will provide responders with background about force multipliers as well as information about the uses of barrier systems.
