The Center for Domestic Preparedness this week is conducting the final pilot of its new Disaster Related Exposure Assessment and Monitoring (DREAM) Course.
DREAM teaches responders from state, local, tribal and territorial agencies how to assess, monitor and track the health conditions of emergency responders and community members following incidents involving chemical, biological or radiological materials. The four-day offering also teaches attendees how to use a number of software programs developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, which assisted in developing the course.
Its target audience includes a wide range of responders – from public health and healthcare providers to those in the fire and emergency services, as well as those in non-governmental organizations who assist in response and recovery operations.
The DREAM offering is expected to be ready for routine implementation later this year.
