LSU’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education (LSU NCBRT/ACE) serves the national and international emergency response communities, in both the public and private sector. In order to further expand our expert level training and materials to reach as many emergency responders as possible, some in-demand LSU NCBRT/ACE courses will now be offered in Spanish. They include:

The translated courses will be available for the mobile delivery versions of all of the above courses, as well as the virtual, Zoom versions of SPOT, SPOT-C, and P&D-C. To schedule a Zoom delivery, email our national open enrollment coordinators at nationaltraining@ncbrt.lsu.edu. To schedule a mobile delivery, contact the training manager for your FEMA region.

Translations for several more LSU NCBRT courses are also in planning stages and will be available in the near future.

“We would like to thank LSU/NCBRT for providing training in the Spanish language to our areas of emergency management, law enforcement, Fire, EMS, and Health,” said Axel J. Reyes, Training & Exercise Coordinator & Property Administrator, Puerto Rico Office for Public Security & Safety, Department of Public Safety. “We have thousands of police and first responders from both state and federal agencies. As of today, several groups of those responders including firefighters, emergency management, and law enforcement have benefited from such training.”

Recently, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, LSU’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education (LSU NCBRT/ACE) also developed several webinars and job-aids to help first responders and law enforcement navigate new challenges posed by the virus. In order to further expand COVID-19 training materials to as many emergency responders as possible, webinars are now offered in Spanish.

“Part of the LSU NCBRT/ACE mission is to develop and deliver high quality training resources to local, state, tribal and territorial law enforcement and emergency responders,” said Jason Krause, LSU NCBRT/ACE Associate Director of Operations and Plans. “It is especially important during this time that we ensure our resources are as accessible as possible to all responders, regardless of location or language.”

The available Spanish webinars include CDC Secuencia para Ponerse y Quitarse EPP, Salud del Respondedor Durante COVID-19, Operaciones del EOC Durante el Distanciamiento Social, and more. These resources can be found on LSU NCBRT/ACE’s e-Learning page. Additionally, all of the training videos can now be accessed on YouTube.

Trainings and job-aids are available at no cost through LSU NCBRT/ACE e-Learning. The resources on the Moodle page are also available in Arabic and Indonesian Bahasa.
