The Center for Domestic Preparedness earlier this week kicked off the 2021 Tribal – Department of Homeland Security Summit.
The four-day virtual gathering brought together tribal representatives and department cyber professionals, grants specialists, training providers and others to discuss needs and available resources in those areas.
The CDP encouraged tribal responders to participate in the center’s advanced skills training throughout the year, in addition to its annual Tribal Training Week, which has courses and exercises tailored exclusively for those in tribal communities.
CDP Superintendent Tony Russell provided opening remarks for the center’s presentation. He explained how the CDP’s training can better position tribal responders to help their communities.
He was followed by Dave Hall, the CDP’s West Region and Tribal Training Coordinator. Hall provided detailed information about the CDP’s resident training offerings and its Tribal Training Week, which is the largest annual tribal training event in DHS.
As part of his presentation, Hall included testimonials from several tribal responders, who are also CDP alumni, about the benefits of CDP training.
In all, about 500 people from across the nation participated in the seminar, which concluded late today.
