The partnership between FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Office of Bombing Prevention (OBP) provides added value to the training many responders receive at the CDP.
To-date in 2022, six OBP courses have been conducted on the CDP campus, resulting in 51 completions of its Protective Measures Course (PMC) and 63 completions of its Bombing Prevention Awareness Course (BPAC).
PMC, typically delivered in conjunction with the CDP’s Field Force Extrication Tactics Course, teaches responders how to identify risks to and vulnerabilities of a facility, venue or event and protective measures associated with the threats of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The CDP’s Field Force Operations Course often accompanies BPAC, which provides an overview of IEDs and other explosives, as well as responses to suspicious behaviors and items.
Support provided to OBP by the CDP for its training includes scheduling the courses, registering students, and lodging, meals, course instructors and other logistical support for its students.
The CDP supports 9 to 12 OBP resident classes each year, in addition to numerous non-resident and web-based training classes it conducts. Non-resident courses are delivered at locations across the United States.
