FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has released its quarterly report on the effectiveness of its training during the first quarter of 2022.
The report, taken from student surveys and a comparison of pre-tests and final exams, gauges the degree to which students found the training to be appealing and relevant as well as whether they gained what they’d hoped from the instruction.
Between January and March of this year, 1,707 students took 88 different classes at the CDP. Following their training, more than 99% of students said the training made them better prepared.
Additionally, average final exam scores were just shy of 93 points, an increase of more than 30 points over the average pre-test scores. The CDP’s Training and Education Directorate considers a course to be highly successful if the difference between the pre-test and final exams is greater than 27 points.
Student surveys cover not only student knowledge but also the quality of the instructors and course materials. On a five-point scale, the quality of instruction received a 4.8 for the quarter, while course materials garnered a 4.68.
