FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) today hosted a group of Indonesian government officials.
The officials are part of the county’s National Disaster Management Agency (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana) and visited the CDP to see firsthand how it trains responders from across the nation to both prepare for and respond to natural and man-made disasters.
The group was accompanied by members of the Mercy Corps, a global volunteer humanitarian organization, and the University of Hawaii, which, along with the CDP, is a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, a partnership of several nationally recognized organizations whose members work to address the preparedness needs of the nation’s first responders.
Earlier in the week, the group visited FEMA’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. It also visited FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland, which ensures those with key emergency management responsibilities, including FEMA employees, possess the requisite skills to effectively perform their jobs.
