LSU’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education (NCBRT/ACE) delivered its PER-275 Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response, or LASER, course in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma from June 7-10.
The course was held at the Broken Arrow Police and Fire Training Facility and featured participants from 10 agencies and departments. This delivery was a “train the trainer” course, which means the officers participating in the course also learned the skills necessary to deliver the course on their own to their individual agencies.
The LASER course addresses technical aspects of planning and implementing a rapid law enforcement deployment to an active shooter incident through classroom presentations, hands-on performance-based field training, and scenario-based practical exercises.
