Since 1985, the Security and Emergency Response Training Center (SERTC) has supported the rail industry as an extension of the Transportation Technology Center, Inc. (TTCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads (AAR).  SERTC broadened the scope of operations and extended our reach into the first responder community by becoming a member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC) on July 31, 2009.

SERTC has been headquartered at the FRA’s Transportation Technology Center (TTC) since inception.  After 40 successful years, SERTC is excited to announce that we will be relocating to a new location in Pueblo that is capable of transforming our training program and enhancing our student experience.

Team SERTC is combining our history of excellence with the opportunity of using a new Pueblo-based location to create a new hands-on learning experience from the ground up.  We are taking customer feedback into consideration as we design and build our new scenarios and classroom space.  Specifically, Team SERTC will focus on enhancing the student experience by increasing capacity and incorporating innovative technology to maximize student retention of the training curriculum.

The new, fully equipped facilities are projected to be ready for student action within the next 12 months.  Our transition team is working with customers to ensure that the transition from the existing facility to SERTC’s new home will not result in reduced class availability or capacity. As such, we anticipate no disruptions in the delivery or changes to the quality of training we provide to our nation’s first responders.  Our team is excited to remain a strong full member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to use additional funding to grow our presence within the first responder community and continue our second-to-none support of the NDPC.

Additional details on the new SERTC campus are forthcoming. Learn about SERTC training at www.SERTC.org.

TTCI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads established to support the development and deployment of innovative technologies to increase the safety, reliability and efficiency of the railroad industry. Learn more at www.TTCI.tech.
