The Center for Domestic Preparedness has created a train-the-trainer course for its Integrating Communications Assessment and Tactics (ICAT) training offering.

ICAT teaches law enforcement officers to deescalate encounters with individuals suffering from mental health issues or involved in domestic violence.

It was developed by the Police Executive Research Forum, with input from police professionals across the United States, and is designed specifically for situations involving persons who are unarmed or armed with weapons other than firearms.

The ICAT Train-the-Trainer (TtT) course will enable law enforcement officers and state-approved trainers to teach the ICAT curriculum to others in their jurisdictions.

Seats in the first ICAT TtT offering, in November, are already filled. However, the course will be offered again in 2022.
