Students learn to use radiation detection equipment this week during the inaugural delivery of the CDP’s Basic Emergency Response Training (BERT) Course. The three-day resident offering teaches responders how to identify basic hazardous materials, survey and assess scenes with hazardous materials, triage and decontaminate casualties, and choose and operate a number of hazardous materials detection and air monitoring instruments.
