FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) offers responders a wide variety of self-paced, web-based training courses which can be accessed anywhere, through a computer or mobile device.

Among the offerings is Basics of WebEOC (Emergency Operations Center), which teaches students the essentials of the emergency management system, including its mapping, communications and other tools. The independent study course takes about an hour to complete.

It was developed in response to feedback from students who said they had not used WebEOC, or similar emergency management systems, prior to their time at the CDP.

While Basics of WebEOC is available for any responder who wants to broaden his or her skill set, the offering will be a prerequisite for some CDP courses, such as Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents, where students use the CDP’s on-campus WebEOC portal during training exercises.

Responders interested in the training can learn more by visiting https://cdp.dhs.gov/training/course/AWR-942-W.

Course registration requires a FEMA Student Identification Number or SID. To complete the one-time registration process for a SID, visit https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/register.

FEMA’s mission is helping people before, during and after disasters. The CDP supports this mission by preparing first responders from across the nation to plan for and respond to natural and man-made disasters.
