New Mexico Tech hosted the annual National Bomb Squad Commander’s Conference September 21-24th. The conference, an annual gathering of public safety bomb squad commanders, provides training on emerging threats and input to shape research, counter-IED technology, safety equipment, and tactics for bomb technicians. The National Bomb Squad Commanders Advisory Board (NBSCAB) works in close partnership with federal agencies, and this event’s partners included the FBI, ATF, and CISA. Industry vendors from the explosive and anti-terrorism fields also supported the conference. With over 340 individuals attending, the conference also included the annual Bomb Tech Memorial Fund (BTMF) dinner and auction to support families of bomb technicians who were killed in the line of duty.
